Being new to the area, exploring all the nooks and crannies we can, we went hiking up a path not far from our doorstep on Sunday evening. Once at the top of the trail, hiking along the edge of the mountain we could hear the beating of drums and the faint sound of music in the distance, further down in the small town of Uljin. Curious as we are, Sophia and I followed our ears.. To our surprise it was a small festival being held by the senior town folk to bless the area under the full moon. To rid it of bad spirits or omens and bless the season's harvest. The people had written wishes and tied them to the bamboo tower, once it was lit and burnt up, their wishes would carry away in the wind and smoke... I shot the video with my phone so please excuse the quality. It's still interesting to see.
